This gentle three-day trek takes you deep into the High Atlas Mountains, where you’ll meet Berber communities and discover their age-old traditions. As you cross through juniper forests, fertile valleys, and traditional adobe villages, you’ll experience a lifestyle rooted in simplicity and harmony with nature. A cultural and human adventure, perfect for exploring the scenic valleys of Toubkal and connecting with the local population.
After breakfast, you will set off to discover the High Atlas, its traditional Berber villages made of adobe, and its beautiful green valleys. You’ll reach the village of Imi-Oughlad (1400m), where you’ll meet your muleteer and cook team. After loading the luggage, your day’s hike begins with a steady ascent to the Tacht Pass (2000m), passing through a forest of junipers and green oaks. Once at the pass, you’ll stop for lunch, then continue in the afternoon along the mountainside to the village of Tizien (1700m). Dinner and overnight stay in a guesthouse. 5 hours of walking.
You’ll ascend the beautiful Azaden Valley, discovering terraced fields and meeting Berber locals. You’ll stop at a local home to enjoy a refreshing mint tea, then have lunch. In the afternoon, your hike continues up to the Tamsoulte cirque, a sublime summer grazing area for village flocks. Arrival at the refuge (2250m), dinner and overnight stay. 4 hours of walking.
You’ll leave this magical spot along the mountainside and reach the Mzik Pass (2300m), from where you’ll enjoy a panoramic view of the Ait Mizane Valley. Then descend to the Berdoune spring for lunch. In the afternoon, continue your hike to the village of Imlil (1740m), where your driver will be waiting. Transfer back to Marrakech.
Clothing:
- Trekking boots (broken in beforehand).
- Warm jacket and rainproof jacket with a hood.
- Warm hat and sun hat.
- Gloves (waterproof in winter).
- Comfortable trekking pants and lightweight long-sleeve shirts.
- Thermal base layers.
- Wool socks (2 pairs).
- Lightweight sandals for the refuge.
Equipment:
- Backpack for trekking gear and a daypack for essentials (water, snacks, extra layers).
- Sleeping bag.
- Water bottle with purification tablets.
- Walking poles.
- Headlamp with spare batteries.
Other Essentials:
- Sun cream and lip balm.
- First-aid kit (pain relievers, plasters, antiseptic wipes, rehydration sachets).
- Passport and travel insurance details.
- Small toiletries (toothbrush, soap, towel, antibacterial gel).
- Snacks and energy bars.
Winter-Specific Gear:
- Crampons, gaiters, and ice axes.
- Down or windproof outer layers.
- Snow goggles.
Note: Equipment is available for rent at reasonable prices.
1 euro équivaut à environ 10 à 11 dirhams selon le cour de la banque. Dans toutes les grandes villes, vous pourrez retirer de l'argent avec une carte Visa internationale. Vous trouverez également de nombreux bureaux de change. Attention, ne retirez pas trop d'argent car l'exportation des dirhams est interdite.
Le Maroc est à l'heure GMT, il y a donc une heure de décalage par rapport à l’Europe.
Pour les ressortissants français, belges ou suisses, passeport en cours de validité (pas de visa) valable au moins six mois après la date d’entrée sur le territoire marocain.
Aucune vaccination n'est obligatoire. La meilleure précaution restant la prévention.
