Overview

Discover one of the natural treasures of Morocco's central High Atlas: the M’Goun Massif. This eight-day program blends cultural immersion with adventure amidst breathtaking nature. Hike across green valleys, high plateaus, dramatic gorges, and authentic Berber villages. Accompanied by local guides, muleteers, and a cook, you’ll experience majestic landscapes, ancient traditions, and the daily life of the Atlas people. Enjoy nights under the stars in wilderness camps and the warm hospitality of Moroccan mountain culture.

Tour Plan

Arrival at Marrakech airport, welcome and transfer to the riad or hotel. Check-in and overnight stay.

After breakfast, minibus transfer to the Central High Atlas via Demnate and Imi n’Ifri. Pass through Ait Blal and Ait Bouli to reach the Happy Valley. Cross Ait Imi Pass (2900m), descend to Tighremt village, lunch, and start your hike to Aflafal (2400m). Camp setup, dinner and overnight. (30 minutes walking)

Gentle ascent through stunning limestone landscapes and high plateaus. This area is internationally known for paleontological discoveries. Reach Tangote camp (2700m). Lunch, afternoon walk in this transhumance zone. Dinner and overnight. (4–5 hours walking)

Hike at the foot of Jebel Igdamen with panoramic views over Mgoune and Azourki. Arrive at Izabine, set up camp, lunch, and afternoon walk. Dinner and overnight. (4–5 hours walking)

Pass a small col with views over the Azibs of Arous. Visit salt springs and reach the camp (2400m). Lunch, free time in the afternoon. Dinner and overnight. (4–5 hours walking)

Descend the beautiful Arousse valley via Ait Said village and Tamzrite plateau to reach Ait Bouguemaz Valley. Arrival at the guesthouse, lunch and afternoon walk. Dinner and overnight. (4–5 hours walking).

After breakfast, transfer back to Marrakech via Demnate. Arrival before noon, check-in at the riad, lunch, and free afternoon to explore the city. Dinner and overnight.

Transfer to the airport and assistance with departure formalities.

Moroccan mountain guide speaking foreign languages, approved by the Ministry of Tourism, a cook and mule drivers.

Accommodation:

2 nights in hotels in Marrakech, in a double room on half-board or in a single room upon request.

The other nights in bivouac, homestay, or lodge depending on your program and weather conditions.

Available: Small 2-person igloo tents and single tents according to group distribution with individual foam mattresses provided.

A kitchen tent and 1 large dining tent for evening meals with ground mats.

Transport:

Transfers in comfortable air-conditioned vehicle from the airport and back.

Carrying:

Mules are available for carrying luggage.

Food:

*Moroccan cuisine, with Berber and Arab flavors, is always highly appreciated:

Breakfasts: Coffee - Milk - Cheese - Black tea - Mint tea - Jam - Butter - Honey - Cocoa powder - Chocolate spread - Bread.

Lunch: Various salads - Macaroni - Rice - Lentils - White beans - Bread - Seasonal dessert - Mint tea.

Dinner: Tajines - Couscous - Soups - Bread - Dessert - Verbena.

*Our tours are full-board.

*As soon as you leave the city, meals are prepared by your cook. It is traditional Moroccan cuisine, balanced and varied.

*For the day's stages, dried fruits are available at each break (Dates - Figs - Small cakes - Pralines - Peanuts...).

Equipment:

Please bring 2 pieces of luggage (Note: no more than 15 kg)

A small backpack for daily essentials (water bottle, sunscreen, camera, etc.)

A travel bag, preferably a duffel bag that will be carried by the mules (Please avoid suitcases).

Sleeping:

Please bring 1 warm and comfortable sleeping bag (Warm blankets are available for nights in lodges if needed).

Clothing to bring:

• 1 hat or cap or scarf.

• Breathable short-sleeved T-shirts (1 per 2 to 3 days of walking).

• A fleece jacket or sweater.

• 1 pair of mountain pants.

• Hiking socks to prevent blisters.

• 1 pair of light hiking shoes with good ankle support.

• 1 sarong (handy for washing in private).

• Underwear.

• 1 comfortable pair of pants for the evening.

• 1 pair of very light leisure shoes for the evening.

Personal pharmacy:

Our pharmacy is simply for first aid.

We kindly ask you to bring: - A painkiller - An anti-inflammatory - An antispasmodic - An intestinal antiseptic - An anti-nausea - Bandages - A small roll of Elastoplast - An antiseptic - Eye drops - Your usual personal medications (Antibiotics, etc.)

Formalities:

Currency:

1 euro is equivalent to about 10 to 11 dirhams depending on the bank rate. In all major cities, you can withdraw money with an international Visa card. You will also find many exchange offices. Be careful not to withdraw too much money as the export of dirhams is prohibited.

Local time:

Morocco is on GMT time, so there is a one-hour time difference with Europe.

Passport:

For French, Belgian, or Swiss nationals, a valid passport (no visa) valid for at least six months after the date of entry into Moroccan territory.

Health:

No vaccinations are mandatory. The best precaution remains prevention.

Monnaie :

1 euro équivaut à environ 10 à 11 dirhams selon le cour de la banque. Dans toutes les grandes villes, vous pourrez retirer de l'argent avec une carte Visa internationale. Vous trouverez également de nombreux bureaux de change. Attention, ne retirez pas trop d'argent car l'exportation des dirhams est interdite.

Heure locale :

Le Maroc est à l'heure GMT, il y a donc une heure de décalage par rapport à l’Europe.

Passeport :

Pour les ressortissants français, belges ou suisses, passeport en cours de validité (pas de visa) valable au moins six mois après la date d’entrée sur le territoire marocain.

Santé :

Aucune vaccination n'est obligatoire. La meilleure précaution restant la prévention.
