Duration: 8 Days
2 Person Minimum
This 8-day trek takes you through the Siroua Massif, nestled between the High Atlas and Anti-Atlas mountains in a preserved and little-traveled region. This volcanic mountain range offers spectacular landscapes, fertile valleys where precious saffron grows, authentic Berber villages, and a rich architectural heritage with ancient communal granaries.
Walking at a comfortable pace and accompanied by a local team, you will explore high plateaus, natural cirques, alpine sheepfolds, and climb Mount Siroua (3305 m), which offers stunning panoramic views over the surrounding mountains. This is a journey that combines nature, culture, and an immersive experience into the pastoral life of the Berber mountains.
Arrival at Marrakech airport, welcome and transfer to your hotel. Check-in, dinner, and overnight stay.
After breakfast, transfer by comfortable minibus toward the Siroua Massif. Cross the Tichka Pass (2260 m) and reach the village of Tizoide. Meet your team of muleteers and cook, stop for lunch, then begin your first walk through volcanic landscapes to the village of Aït Tigga (1947 m). Set up camp, dinner, and overnight stay. 2 to 3 hours of walking.
Today, explore the Aït Semgane valley, home to saffron fields, barley and wheat crops, and traditional stone houses. Stop for tea in Aït Ighmer village and lunch near a spring. Cross the Ounzoumer Pass and descend to the Mdiste mountain shelters. Set up camp, dinner, and overnight stay. 6 hours of walking. (Option: bivouac at Tassouite and climb the summit the next day.)
Climb Mount Siroua (3305 m) through vast pastures. From the summit, admire views over the entire massif, the Toubkal to the north, Saghro and M’Goun to the east, and the Souss plain to the west. Descend to Iriri shelters (2400 m). Camp, dinner, and overnight stay. 6 to 7 hours of walking
Walk at the foot of the Tikniwine rock towers ("twin girls" in Berber) across the Amzdour range and the granite chaos dotted with basalt peaks. Descend into the Aguerzgueza cirque (2500 m), a magical site. Arrive in Aziouane, set up camp, dinner, and overnight stay. 5 hours of walking.
Discover the volcanic massif of Tine Iysane, a majestic cirque with high-altitude shelters used by the Ikhouzamen tribe. Return to the campsite for dinner and overnight stay. 4 to 5 hours of walking.
Hike to the village of Amassine. Visit its impressive collective granary atop a hill, then lunch and transfer back to Marrakech. Arrival at the hotel, check-in, dinner, and overnight stay. About 3 hours of walking.
